Global Sustainable Fashion Week (#GSFW) marks a decade with its anniversary edition, taking place from September 14 to 18, 2026. The event will bring together international figures from fashion, research, industry, diplomacy, and innovation in Budapest.
The tenth edition turns its attention to some of the major challenges set to shape the next generation of the industry, from the evolution of production models to the integration of new tools and perspectives capable of transforming how fashion is designed, produced, and understood.
More than an anniversary celebration, GSFW 2026 positions Budapest as the setting for an international conversation about where fashion is headed and who is shaping that future.
Under the leadership of Dr. Gabriella Mányi-Walek and the National Fashion League Hungary Association, Global Sustainable Fashion Week (#GSFW) reaches its tenth anniversary as an international platform dedicated to exploring the evolving relationship between fashion, sustainability, industry, and culture.
Its approach is rooted in a premise that has become increasingly relevant: fashion’s transformation does not take place within a single territory or belong to a single discipline. That is why GSFW brings educators, sustainability specialists, circular economy experts, designers, and diplomatic representatives from across continents to Budapest.
For its anniversary edition, this vision is framed around the Twin Transition, the green and digital transformation of the industry, creating space for a dialogue between heritage and technology, craftsmanship and innovation. Regenerative design, circular value chains, and the preservation of traditional crafts all become part of the same conversation.
From this perspective, GSFW 2026 does more than commemorate a decade of work. It looks toward fashion’s next chapter: an industry in transformation, seeking to move forward by embracing new solutions without losing sight of the knowledge, practices, and heritage that form part of its identity.
Sustainable Fashion Enters the Digital Age
Technology, innovation, and the circular economy converge in Budapest for the tenth edition of GSFW.
The tenth edition of Global Sustainable Fashion Week (GSFW) will take place in Budapest from September 14 to 18, 2026, marking the organization’s tenth anniversary. This year’s program places particular emphasis on the so-called Twin Transition, connecting the green and digital transformation of the fashion and textile industries.
Among the key technological topics explored by GSFW are Digital Product Passports (DPPs), artificial intelligence applied to supply chains, 3D garment design, and smart textiles. The program also addresses supply chain cybersecurity, data protection, and the security of e-commerce infrastructure.
This technological focus forms part of a broader agenda that brings innovation into conversation with heritage and craftsmanship. For its tenth anniversary, the organization proposes a synthesis between traditional knowledge and practices and emerging digital solutions, while also addressing sustainable design, circular systems, and textile innovation.
Canada Arrives in Budapest as GSFW’s Guest of Honor
The tenth-anniversary celebration places Canada at the heart of its international agenda, with a delegation bringing together design, styling, and circular economy expertise.
For its tenth anniversary, Global Sustainable Fashion Week (#GSFW) is turning its gaze across the Atlantic. Canada will officially serve as the Guest of Honor at the 2026 edition, joining a celebration that will bring together international figures working across sustainable fashion and the transformation of the industry in Budapest.
Canada’s presence takes on particular significance within this anniversary edition. This is not simply a national representation, but an encounter between different perspectives on contemporary fashion, brought together through sustainability, creativity, and international collaboration.
The Canadian delegation will include Sarah Jay, director and sustainable fashion stylist; sustainable designer Natalya Amres; and Natasha Zahodnik, circular economy director and founder of The RWRK Collective.
Also joining the delegation are Bokor Éva, director of Flow Models Hungary; István Hornyák, GSFW creative director; and Danielle Sabourin, Chargée d’affaires at the Embassy of Canada in Hungary.
They will be joined by Adam X, a Canadian designer and this edition’s Principal Transatlantic Guest Designer of Honor, whose participation will bring the Canada-Europe connection to one of the central moments of the celebration.
From Budapest, Canada will take center stage in an edition that positions fashion as a space for cultural and professional exchange across continents.

A Journey Through Major Fashion Houses and Independent Creation
Adam X is the creative director behind Adam X Atelier, a luxury womenswear label that seeks to merge tradition and modernity through pieces that exist at the intersection of fashion, craftsmanship, and art.
The house defines its language through a combination of eclectic elegance, structured tailoring, and fluid draping, drawing influences from both East and West. Its stated aim is to explore the boundaries of creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability, using fashion as a form of personal expression.
His training is rooted in some of the most influential names in British fashion. Adam X trained in London with houses including Alexander McQueen and Temperley London before further developing his professional expertise through work with luxury firms such as Burberry, Ralph & Russo Couture, and Christian Dior Couture.
These experiences represent more than prestigious names on a résumé. They offer insight into the vocabulary he would later develop through his own house: a form of fashion in which silhouette construction, technical precision, and theatricality coexist with a deeply artistic sensibility.
The Journey of a Canadian Designer Between Europe and North America
There is a reason Budapest holds such a special place in Adam X’s history. In 2014, he presented his work there for the first time to an international audience. Twelve years later, he returns to the city as the Principal Transatlantic Guest Designer of Honor, with a collection inspired by the work of John Singer Sargent and a career that, since that first presentation, has unfolded between Canada and Europe.
For Adam, the return carries a deeply personal significance. It also represents an opportunity: to showcase a Canadian perspective shaped by craftsmanship, creativity, sustainability, and years of experience on both sides of the Atlantic. As the first Canadian designer to receive this honor, he also hopes his presence will help open new possibilities for other creatives from his country.
He studied in London, where he began to establish many of the foundations of his design language. His professional experience with Alexander McQueen, Ralph & Russo, and Christian Dior exposed him to different approaches to the craft, allowing him to take away lessons from each that continue to inform the way he works today.
From Alexander McQueen, he remembers the courage: learning to challenge conventions and never being afraid to provoke a reaction through fashion. At Ralph & Russo, he discovered the importance of attention to detail. And at Christian Dior, he found an idea he considers essential: the woman should remain at the heart of design, not simply in terms of how she looks, but how she feels when she wears a garment.
Adam explains that when he begins designing, he may have countless references surrounding him: a culture, a piece of architecture, a work of art, a place, or simply anything that has left an impression on him. All of it can remain within that creative space until he finds a way to translate it into a garment.
JOHN SINGER SARGENT
The inspiration came from Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose by John Singer Sargent, a painting that captures a scene of two young girls lighting lanterns among flowers at dusk.
The choice also carries a personal connection for Adam. Sargent was an American artist who gained recognition in Paris, traveled extensively throughout Europe, and later developed a significant part of his career in England. Adam sees an echo of his own journey in that trajectory: a Canadian designer of Chinese heritage who studied in London, traveled across Europe, and found there a fundamental part of his relationship with fashion.
Sargent’s story in England began after the controversy surrounding Madame X, which was presented at the Paris Salon in 1884. The painting’s reception caused a major scandal, ultimately prompting Sargent to leave Paris and settle in England. It was later, in Broadway, Worcestershire, that he worked on Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose.
The painting captures a very particular moment: the brief interval at dusk when natural light begins to fade just as the lanterns start to illuminate the scene. Sargent worked for only a short period each evening, returning day after day to capture that fleeting light.
For Adam, that transience is precisely what makes the work so powerful to this day.
His intention was never simply to translate a painting into a collection. What he wanted to bring into his designs was the feeling of a moment unfolding while, at the same time, already beginning to disappear.
That idea runs throughout the collection and speaks to his understanding of fashion: a garment can preserve the memory of a fleeting moment and become a way of expressing what we are experiencing in the present.

For Adam X Atelier, this editorial comes from a deeply personal place. Creating this story at the Embassy of Hungary in Canada was his way of expressing his gratitude to his dear friend Gabi and to Hungary, bringing to fashion a sentiment that transcends the creation itself.
Through this production, Adam sought to celebrate Hungarian art, architecture and heritage, while also recognizing the creative connection between Canada and Hungary. The result is a story shaped by admiration and affection, in which fashion becomes a form of gratitude.
This editorial also accompanies and pays tribute to the VIP Welcome Reception and Press Conference that the Embassy of Canada in Hungary will host during GSFW in Budapest, dedicated to Canadian designers and to strengthening the cultural ties between both countries.
