Today marks the opening of the Tabi: Collectors Exhibition by Maison Margiela in Chengdu, placing the iconic Tabi at the center of a fully reimagined experience.
Far from a traditional exhibition, the project is drawing attention for its approach: nine global collectors open up their personal archives, transforming them into immersive installations that reveal how the Tabi is worn, adapted, and lived in real life.
Figures like Theaster Gates and Zion.T contribute to this more intimate reading of fashion fandom, where the object shifts from a display piece to an extension of identity.
Open from April 9 to 13 at the Avenue Art Museum, the exhibition signals a clear shift: fashion is no longer just presented—it is experienced through the people who wear it.
