Can a logo disappear and still remain recognizable?

Within the framework of FIFA’s clean stadium policies ahead of the 2026 World Cup, certain venues have limited the presence of non-affiliated commercial branding, reserving visibility for official sponsors.

At Levi’s Stadium, the name of Levi's was temporarily covered during a recent event, leaving only its iconic batwing visible—still enough to maintain instant visual recognition.

In parallel, the brand adopted a similar aesthetic on Instagram: its logo appears covered, and in its latest post, the stadium is introduced with the line “Welcoming the world to the beautiful [redacted] stadium!,” reinforcing a visual language of concealment.

The reaction online was immediate, with users interpreting the gesture as a branding move: “legendary move,” “true incognito mode,” and “revived marketing.”
