Burberry brings its trench to the V&A
Burberry celebrates 170 years of history with The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon, a free exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The exhibition brings together previously unseen pieces from the maison’s archives with the museum’s textile collection, tracing the trench coat’s evolution from Thomas Burberry’s invention of waterproof gabardine to its transformation into a fashion icon.
The exhibition also features reinterpretations of the silhouette by designers including Christopher Bailey and Daniel Lee, showing how a garment created for functionality became one of the most recognizable codes of British fashion.
Open through January 3, 2027, the exhibition also sets the stage for a broader collaboration between Burberry and the V&A, including a permanent gallery sponsored by the brand, planned for 2028.

Burberry celebra 170 años de historia con The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon, una exposición gratuita en el Victoria and Albert Museum de Londres. La muestra reúne piezas inéditas de los archivos de la maison con la colección textil del museo para recorrer la evolución del trench, desde la creación de la gabardina impermeable por Thomas Burberry hasta su transformación en un ícono de la moda.
El recorrido también reúne reinterpretaciones de la silueta realizadas por diseñadores como Christopher Bailey y Daniel Lee, mostrando cómo una prenda nacida para la funcionalidad terminó convirtiéndose en uno de los códigos más reconocibles de la moda británica.
Abierta hasta el 3 de enero de 2027, la exposición también anticipa una colaboración más amplia entre Burberry y el V&A, con una galería permanente patrocinada por la firma prevista para 2028.
