Tesla’s new Roadster takes luxury beyond the road

The future of luxury motoring has taken an unexpected turn. Elon Musk unveiled the next-generation Tesla Roadster in Texas, where the electric sports car lifted off the ground, flipped mid-air, and landed on its wheels during a demonstration. High-pressure gas thrusters developed with SpaceX technology powered the manoeuvre, bringing aerospace engineering into a world shaped by speed, design, and desire.

More than a car, the Roadster reflects an idea increasingly present in luxury: innovation must also surprise, offering experiences that once belonged to science fiction. Its flight-capable version, however, is not yet approved for public roads, and Tesla plans to begin production in 2028. For now, the question is how far this technology can go beyond a spectacular reveal.

Dior turns a lip balm into a phone charm

Dior takes makeup beyond the beauty bag with Médaillon, a lip balm from its Holiday 2026 collection that can be attached to the back of your phone using an adhesive template. The design taps into the growing trend of phone charms, where tech accessories have also become a way to express personal style. Its ornate details draw inspiration from the 18th century, including a bow inspired by the Fontanges style, associated with the elaborate hairstyles worn at the French court.

Available in 001 Crystal Pink, the balm combines a creamy formula with hydrating oils for a luminous finish. With Médaillon, the maison turns an everyday beauty product into an accessory to display and collect, bringing beauty into the world of personal objects that reflect the style of the person who chooses them.

Repetto finds a way to wear ballet flats in winter

Balletcore isn’t ready to put its beloved flats away just because temperatures are dropping. For its Winter Ballet collection, French footwear house Repetto introduces Ballet Warm, a hybrid design that pairs its signature leather ballet flats with ribbed wool leg warmers extending to the knee, built directly into the shoe.

Available in shades including grey, ivory, and pastel pink, the design preserves the delicacy of traditional ballet flats while adding an extra layer for colder days. With this release, Repetto reworks one of its most recognizable signatures for winter. The result brings the look of the dance studio to the streets while making styling effortless: the leg warmers are no longer an extra piece to work into an outfit but part of a single silhouette designed to take balletcore beyond spring.

Pierre Cardin’s Venetian home opens to the public

Venice is opening the doors to a more personal side of Pierre Cardin. Ca’ Bragadin, the historic residence of the Italian-born designer, is now a permanent museum housing more than 350 pieces from his archive. Visitors can discover the geometric shapes and space-age designs that made him one of fashion’s great futurists, alongside jewelry, accessories, and furniture that reveal how far his ideas reached beyond clothing. The house will also host workshops and educational programs for emerging designers, giving the space a purpose beyond preserving the past. It’s a way to keep Cardin’s experimental approach in circulation, this time by putting it in the hands of the next generation.

Robert Wun brings his couture vision to New York City Ballet

Robert Wun takes his dramatic visual language from the runway to the stage with Shared Rain, a piece presented at the New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala 2026. For the collaboration, the London-based designer created midnight-blue bodysuits embellished with Swarovski crystals, alongside geometric headpieces shaped like six-pointed umbrellas, developed with support from Senz.

The production marks the first commission for both Wun and choreographer Jennifer Archibald at NYCB. Her work explores how the human body responds to the force of a storm, with climate change as its backdrop. Drawing on the umbrellas that featured prominently in one of Wun’s haute couture collections, the choreography transforms them into an extension of the dancers’ physical language.

Apparatus turns design into a fable

Five years after his last complete collection, Gabriel Hendifar returns with ACT V: AFSANEH, a new furniture and lighting collection inspired by his Persian roots. The name, meaning “fable” in Persian, is also a tribute to his mother.

The collection transforms everyday pieces into objects with a fantastical quality. Among them is Rahvi, a cast-brass light inspired by a mythical serpent and adorned with rings of semiprecious stones, alongside the lacquered Esfand lamps and Gol fiberglass pendants.

Originally presented in New York as the starting point for its international rollout toward London, ACT V: AFSANEH reaffirms Apparatus’ ability to turn lighting into sculptural pieces capable of transforming a space.

Diana’s “revenge dress” returns to auction

The legendary “revenge dress” worn by Princess Diana is heading back to auction nearly three decades after its last public appearance. The black silk dress, designed by Christina Stambolian, will travel through London, Hong Kong, and Geneva with Sotheby’s before arriving in New York on December 9, 2026, with an estimated value of $150,000 to $300,000.

The dress became part of pop culture history on June 29, 1994, when Diana wore it to a gala at the Serpentine Gallery on the same night then-Prince Charles publicly addressed his infidelity. Its Bardot neckline and departure from royal dress codes transformed the appearance into one of Diana’s most memorable fashion moments.

Originally auctioned by Diana herself in 1997 for charity, the dress now returns to the market as more than an archival fashion piece: a symbol of how clothing can become a statement of independence.

Samira & Regeane brings everyday Mexico to Paris

Mexican fashion found a new way to speak for itself in Paris. During Paris Fashion Week, Samira & Regeane presented MEXIMALISTA, its debut collection, turning childhood memories, everyday objects, and references from Mexican popular culture into a couture proposition.

The iconic Mexican market bag was reimagined as corsetry, while the traditional paliacate, market graphics, street signage, and toys like the balero took on new forms through lace, sheer fabrics, and vibrant blocks of color. The collection starts with instantly recognizable elements and brings them into a more refined visual language without losing their origins.

The presentation also brought together Mexican talent across disciplines, with footwear by Dante, jewelry by Lula, and styling by Paola Tanus and Monse Rebollar, founders of Stylinginc. With MEXIMALISTA, Samira & Regeane brought to Paris an idea of luxury that doesn’t need to distance itself from everyday life to feel extraordinary.

SS27 Footwear takes over the look

For Spring/Summer 2027, shoes are no longer a secondary detail. They’re taking center stage. Prada explored hybrids between sandals and curved heels, while Saint Laurent brought opulence to the feet with chains, gemstones, flowers, feathers, and gilded finishes. At Chanel, Matthieu Blazy refreshed the house’s signature two-tone pumps with leopard and tiger prints, playful card-inspired heels, mesh, and embroidered details. Rather than simply complementing the clothes, footwear is becoming a statement in its own right.

The season also took experimentation into utilitarian territory: The Attico pushed gladiator boots up to the thigh, while Miu Miu continued its dialogue between luxury and sport with the New Balance RC150. KNWLS and Lacoste, meanwhile, reworked familiar codes through rounded soles and tennis-ball-inspired heels. Between sculpture, sport, and excess, SS27 proves that the look can start from the feet.

Le Labo turns fragrance into a concrete object

Le Labo brings its industrial aesthetic into the home with the new Concrete Home Diffuser, a limited-edition piece that transforms an everyday object into a design statement. Its body is made from molded concrete and finished by hand in the United States, with a porous surface that gives each piece its own variations in texture and tone. Over time, the material develops a patina, making each diffuser increasingly unique.

The diffuser uses nebulizing technology to turn SANTAL 26 oil into an ultra-fine mist without heat or dilution, while an Edison bulb adds an ambient element to the experience, adjusting its intensity in sync with the fragrance output. Following an initial launch in select markets, Le Labo will bring the Concrete Home Diffuser to stores worldwide starting December 1, 2026. Another example of how niche perfumery is moving further into the world of interior design.

Lacoste takes tennis into new territory

For Spring/Summer 2027, Lacoste brought its runway to the Philippe-Chatrier court at Roland-Garros, where Pelagia Kolotouros turned the dynamism and physical effort of tennis into a source of experimentation. The collection combined oversized silhouettes, sportswear, and a palette of earthy tones, greens, blues, and silver finishes, while different elements of the sport were reinterpreted far beyond their usual context.

The footwear took this idea a step further, with the collection introducing sporty heels featuring technical lacing and external structures inspired by a tennis net, bringing a code designed for the court into urban fashion. Meanwhile, the ACE-T1 sneaker added a playful touch with a miniature tennis ball embedded directly into the heel. The collection was completed by the pleated Lenglen bag, a design that pays tribute to the tennis skirts of Suzanne Lenglen. In this way, Lacoste looks back to its sporting heritage to transform it into something less literal…

Bee2Be brings conservation into Mexican design

Fundación Bee2Be has added jewelry to its Abeja: Joya de la naturaleza initiative, a project that uses Mexican design to support the conservation of the melipona bee. For its 2026 edition, students and emerging designers can develop proposals inspired by the species, which is deeply connected to Maya culture, with ideas that can later become jewelry pieces, collections, packaging, or collaborations with brands.

The initiative expanded this year from 10 to 25 Mexican universities and received more than 1,000 proposals. Across fashion, art, industrial design, and now jewelry, the melipona is beginning to appear from new perspectives: as inspiration, object, and creative language. A far more contemporary way of bringing an ancestral species into the imagination of Mexican design.

Galliano rewrites Zara

Zara and John Galliano unveil Re{form} Zara, Vol. 1 today, the first result of a two-year creative collaboration that proposes a completely different way of approaching a fashion collaboration. Rather than creating new garments from scratch, Galliano takes pieces from past Zara seasons and deconstructs, transforms, and reimagines them under an idea the designer describes as “re-authorship.”

Altered coats, bias-cut dresses, exaggerated draping, and layered textures bring Galliano’s theatricality to garments that already existed, turning Zara’s past stock into a new collection of one-of-a-kind pieces also intended for resale. The project brings the designer’s experimental vision together with Zara’s scale, exploring what happens when a garment stops being final and becomes creative raw material once again.

MM6 turns the number six into a new anatomy

For Spring/Summer 2027, MM6 Maison Margiela brought its obsession with the number six directly to the body. In Milan, the maison unveiled a collaboration with Havaianas that turned the classic flip-flop into an exercise in distortion: the Slim 6Toe introduces an unexpected sixth toe, while the Top 6Layers stacks six rubber soles into a deliberately irregular structure.

The same logic carried through to the clothing. Classic shirts and knitwear stopped behaving like shirts and sweaters, transforming instead into skirts and hip-hugging dresses while retaining elements of their original construction. Rather than rebuilding the garments, MM6 simply persuaded them to work differently. Because when MM6 takes an everyday object, it apparently doesn’t need to reinvent it; just change the rules of how it is meant to be used.

Cherubim turns engineering into jewelry

The independent label is bringing the logic of industrial design into accessories, creating metal pieces that look as though they came straight out of a robotics lab and landed in the wardrobe.

Behind Cherubim is a former Tesla design engineer who brought his experience in technical modeling and structural design into jewelry and accessories. The result is a collection of articulated, geometric pieces with an almost mechanical quality, including the Spine Belt Deluxe, inspired by the human spine and now one of the brand’s most recognizable designs.

Rather than simply decorating, Cherubim proposes another way of thinking about accessories: objects that function almost like miniature machines, turning engineering into part of their visual identity. Its growing presence online also reflects a new generation’s interest in bringing fashion, technology, and industrial design into the same language.

Kendall Jenner turns headphones into a style accessory

Kendall Jenner stars in the global campaign as multiple versions of herself, all sharing the same café and embodying different moods and aesthetics. Built around the tagline “One headphone. Every version of you,” the campaign introduces interchangeable ear cushions in different colors and materials, allowing the headphones to change with each look.

The concept turns customization into part of the wardrobe, allowing the headphones to shift with the moment, the workout or the look. With Beats 360, a traditionally functional device becomes a more personal accessory—one that can change as easily as the person wearing it.

Pierpaolo Piccioli could leave Balenciaga

The Italian designer may be nearing the end of his just-over-one-year tenure at the maison, shortly before presenting his next collection in Paris.

Piccioli’s arrival in July 2025 shifted the house’s creative language: color, craftsmanship and romanticism took center stage after Demna’s urban and provocative aesthetic. His haute couture debut in July pushed that vision further, with sculptural silhouettes, dramatic volumes and a renewed focus on savoir-faire.

The potential departure comes just ahead of Balenciaga’s scheduled show on October 1 in Paris, currently listed on the official calendar. If confirmed, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection could become the unexpected final chapter of a brief but visually distinctive era.

Campillo brings Mexico into the New York sunset

Patricio Campillo presented “In Medias Res,” a collection that brought Mexican craftsmanship to one of the most important stages in international fashion.

For Spring/Summer 2027, Campillo arrived in New York with a collection that seemed to be constantly in motion. "In Medias Res" explored twisted, knotted, and layered garments, shaping a more relaxed, fluid, and hard-to-define take on masculinity.

The Mexican influence came through in details that speak to tradition without feeling dated: vibrant horsehair fringe created with master artisan José Zamora from Guerrero, alongside silver and onyx crafted by artisans in Mexico City.

With Mexican singer and actress Danna in the front row and Don Julio as the show’s sponsor, Campillo once again showed that Mexican craftsmanship can have a natural place within the language of contemporary luxury. This time, beneath a New York sky painted in the colors of sunset.

During New York Fashion Week, Proenza Schouler took the garden shoe trend into new territory. Under the creative direction of Rachel Scott, the brand incorporated petals directly into the construction of the footwear rather than using them as mere decoration.

Leather is shaped through folds, knots, and hand-finished seams that wrap around the foot like a corolla, creating the illusion that each sandal or flat is blooming from the wearer. The result brings together craftsmanship, volume and a striking sense of movement.

Rather than decorating a shoe with flowers, Proenza Schouler decided to turn the shoe into a flower. A new way to bring nature into the city.

Heinz brings haute couture to ketchup

Heinz has officially entered bridal territory with the HEINZ Bib, a silk accessory created for brides who refuse to give up their late-night fries. Inspired by the growing late-night snack trend at weddings, the piece turns a very real problem into an unexpected fashion statement.

Created with Gab Bois and Wieden+Kennedy New York, the design is hand-embroidered in ketchup-red silk, finished with two genuine rubies, and folds into an elegant evening bag. After going viral at Jordyn Woods’ wedding, the $57 accessory sold out within hours.

Because apparently, a white wedding dress and ketchup can have a happy ending after all.

The Yield Collection: steel redefines the Dry Martiniritual

The Dry Martini ritual takes on a new expression with The Yield Collection, Davide Bozzo Studio’s experimental set that replaces traditional glass with solid steel.

Developed in collaboration with bartender Billie Chiavazzo, the collection includes a mixing glass, cups, jigger, strainer, bar spoon, and garnish picks, all conceived around the same idea: the controlled deformation of matter.

Each piece appears to have been compressed by an invisible force, transforming steel into irregular, sculptural forms. At the same time, its weight and thermal properties bring a functional dimension to the ritual.

Because even making a Martini can become a matter of design.

Yayoi Kusama: Infinity never ends

The artist who turned polka dots, mirrors, and her own visions into a universal language.

Yayoi Kusama, one of the most radical and influential figures in contemporary art, died at the age of 97 at a hospital in Tokyo on August 14. The news was publicly confirmed on August 27 in Japan by her representative studios and the Yayoi Kusama Museum.

For more than seven decades, Kusama transformed her inner world into an unmistakable body of work. Polka dots, infinite nets, pumpkins, and mirrored rooms became a visual signature that transcended museums to become one of the most recognizable languages in contemporary culture.

Now, the art world bids farewell to a creator who transformed her own visions into a universal language. Kusama did not paint infinity to represent it: she built spaces for us to step inside it. And although her brush has finally come to a stop, her dots…

Perfume no longer wants to stay in the bottle

In China, the new wave of niche fragrance is turning scent into an accessory that can be worn, collected, and used to express identity.

Brands like Documents and Tamburins are taking fragrance beyond the bottle with pieces such as Knot Charms: small bag accessories that combine a miniature perfume bottle with Chinese-inspired knots and textured cords. Scrunchies, hair oils, and scented jewelry are also emerging, turning scent into part of personal style.

The phenomenon is also connected to Guochao, the cultural movement celebrating Chinese heritage through contemporary design. Brands such as Documents, ToSummer, and Melt Season incorporate ingredients like osmanthus, bamboo, and green tea, pairing them with historical references reimagined for a new generation.

Fragrance is no longer simply a private ritual. It is becoming a visible, tactile, and cultural object.

Lufthansa turns flying etiquette into fashion

Who said airplane etiquette had to be boring? Lufthansa has turned the unwritten rules of flying into a limited-edition streetwear collection.

Created with creative agency Serviceplan Group, the Travel Etiquette Collection features seven pieces, including hoodies, T-shirts, caps, and totes, stamped with some of the most relatable rules of air travel: “Middle seat gets the armrests,” “Recline Responsibly,” and “Live, love, exit by row.”

Instead of publishing another rulebook, Lufthansa turned everyday in-flight friction into something far more shareable: fashion with a sense of humor.

And there’s a catch. The collection isn’t for sale. The pieces can only be won through giveaways on Lufthansa’s social channels and selected creators, making the campaign as exclusive as it is unexpected.

Because apparently, the next fashion statement is knowing when not to recline your seat.

When books become the new status symbol

Luxury menswear is turning classic literature into the latest expression of sophistication.

Fashion houses including Dior Men and Berluti are transforming literary classics into luxury leather goods, tapping into a growing fascination with analog objects, storytelling, and cultural heritage.

For Dior Men, Jonathan Anderson reimagined the house’s signature tote with the Ulysses Book Tote, featuring embroidery and textures inspired by early editions of James Joyce’s novel. Meanwhile, Berluti’s Trois Nuits brings references to The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry into its leather craftsmanship.

The trend points to a new luxury code: status is no longer only about the logo, but about the story you carry with it. In an increasingly digital world, literature is becoming another way for fashion to signal culture, taste, and intellectual identity.

The worst aquarium that was never an aquarium

A one-star review became the unexpected marketing success of the New Bedford Whaling Museum. In 2020, a confused visitor called it the “worst aquarium ever” on Google, unaware that the institution is actually dedicated to maritime history, science and the whaling heritage of Massachusetts.

Instead of deleting the review, the museum turned the mistake into merchandise: T-shirts, sweatshirts and tote bags featuring the quote and its iconic one-star rating, paired with illustrations of whale skeletons. The result went viral, generating 738 online orders within hours of the story appearing on television and driving weekly sales up 250%.

Louis Vuitton turns a Porsche into a luxury masterpiece

Louis Vuitton is taking leather craftsmanship far beyond luggage. The French maison has joined forces with Singer Vehicle Design to reimagine two Porsche 911 Type 964s through its signature design codes and craftsmanship.

But the luxury doesn’t stop at the cars. Each Porsche comes with a complete travel universe: bespoke luggage, clothing, driving gloves, helmets, watches, and accessories designed to complement the experience.

Balloon pants are taking over 2026

Minimalism just got a dose of volume. Balloon pants have become one of the year’s most searched silhouettes, with searches surging 227% according to Lyst.

The formula is impossible to miss: a defined waist, exaggerated volume through the legs, and a dramatic taper at the ankles. Inspired by the experimental codes of the 1980s, the silhouette has returned to the runway through houses including Chloé, Ralph Lauren, Loewe, and Michael Kors.

The key is contrast. Style insiders are pairing them with corsets, fitted tops, and minimalist pieces to balance the volume, while the retail market is taking the shape from rigid denim to linen and satin.

In 2026, the new powerful silhouette doesn’t follow the body. It surrounds it.

Tom Holland brings high jewelry into the Spider-Man universe

Tom Holland surprised at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere by wearing an exclusive spider brooch created by Pragnell on the knot of his tie. Developed over more than 350 hours, the piece translates Spider-Man’s story into high jewelry through every one of its elements.

At its center, an exceptional 5,114-carat Lightning Ridge black opal reveals flashes of red, green, and orange that mirror the vivid world of Marvel. On its head, a rare natural green-blue diamond—its color the result of geological radiation—references the bite that transformed Peter Parker. Ruby fangs add a nod to danger and the iconic red of his suit.

But the true feat of engineering lies in the yellow-gold legs. Designed with hidden hinges, they articulate with the actor’s movement, mirroring the agility of the spider. The result is a piece in which high jewelry doesn’t simply represent Spider-Man—it comes to life with him.
